3 die, five injured in road mishap
NIRJULI, May 25: In a tragic road accident, two persons died on the spot, another on way to hospital while five others were injured, one severely when a Tata magic on way to Naharlagun from Banderdewa skidded off NH 415 near Karmajuli bridge, rolled down 100 feet and fell into a ditch on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Lakhan Chetri, 32 of Dhekiajuli, Md Wasir Mansur, 51 of Sitamari district of Bihar and Yalop Rome, 40, staff nurse of Tomo Riba State Hospital, Naharlagun while the severely injured one was evacuated to a hospital in Assam.
The police team led by SI P Taku rushed to the spot to conduct rescue operation. The mortal remains of the deceased were sent for post-mortem and police launched investigation after registering a case(No 34/16 u/s 279,339 and 304 (A) IPC).
Maj declares Pul as real “Messiah of the state”, withdraws audio clip FIR

ITANAGAR, May 25: In a dramatic development, Likha Maj, one of the richest PDS contractors has given clean chit to Chief Minister Kalikho Pul by withdrawing his complaint against the CM which was filed following derogatory audio clips that surfaced against Nyishi community last year. All Nyishi Students Union (ANSU) and Likha Maj had separately lodged police complaints against Kalikho Pul on 15th December 2015 alleging that audio clips had hurt the sentiment of community.
Addressing the media persons in a hurriedly convened Press Conference, Maj said, “I was personally very anguished by the content of audio clip and therefore had filed the complaint against him. Now, in the interim period I have come to know that the statement allegedly made by Kalikho Pul in the audio clip was not authentic”.
Maj clarified that he was withdrawing the complaint as he has no reason to harbor any grievances against Mr Pul since the audio clip is not genuine. He further extolled Pul’s as visionary Chief Minister who can make the state flourish.
“Now by keeping a close vigil over his tireless, selfless, and godly service to the people of this state, I can say that he is a real “Messiah of this state” said Maj. He also said Pul is the leader under whose leadership the state will flourish and strengthen in all sectors, with his visionary ideas and innovative programs, for which the state has been waiting since time immemorial”.
Praising Pul for bringing rapid progress in the form of 4 lane Banderdewa- Hollongi Highway and creation of over 6000 jobs in health sector, Maj termed Pul as unbiased CM.
Later Maj also announced Rs five Lakhs for fire victims of Seppa and Rs five lakhs for the victims of Kalaktang road mishap and Tawang Landslide. The amount for Seppa fire victims would be handed over to EKSCWO, while fund announced for road mishap and landslide victims will be distributed through CM’s relief fund.
Arunachal artistes to perform at Festival of India 2016 in Myanmar
ITANAGAR, May 25: Musicians from Arunachal Pradesh are set to make the state proud as they head over to Myanmar to perform at the Festival of India 2016.
Organized by the Centre's ministry of culture, the festival is held across the globe as a means to promote cultural exchanges with host countries. The current leg of the Myanmar edition will showcase musical performances by Indian artistes including those from Arunachal Pradesh.
Independent alt-rock band, Yesterdrive, will perform at the People's Park & People's Square at Yangon on May 29.It will be their first concert outside the country. The band will be joined by Delhi-based singer-songwriter Nabam Takar who spoke about his excitement for the upcoming event and to get out of the heat.
"Finally getting out of Delhi, the furnace," he said and added that he is "looking forward to breathe again and play with Yesterdrive".
Clearly a fan of their music, Takar said that "their songs are fun to listen to and more fun to play".
Yesterdrive's lead singer Molie Lollen is hardly able to hold his enthusiasm for the upcoming event.
"I am super excited and it's an absolute honour," he said, adding that "this platform to represent not just my state but my country is more than what I could have aspired for".
The band's manager for the event, Bobby Hano of the Ziro Festival of Music fame, said that he is "looking forward for long-term business and cultural exchange".
Having recently launched a travel firm, Tour de Himalaya, Hano informed that the Indian embassy has lined up some meetings with tour operators there. Hano also said that this year's ZFM could witness a cultural exchange with artistes from Myanmar. Last year, Yangoon-based punk-rock musicians Side Effect made waves at Ziro when they headlined one of the evening's performances.
Hano is also enthusiastic about Yesterdrive and said that "this is recognition of their dedication and hard work".
Apart from Yesterdrive and Takar, Garo musicians from Meghalaya will also be performing during the event which was launched last month. Next month, bamboo craftsmen from Manipur will be heading over to Myanmar.
Delhi-based crooner, Takar, released his debut album 'Same Sky' earlier this year apart from hit singles that were released earlier including 'Hello' and 'Table for two'.
Yesterdrive released their first EP 'Hold On' on March 2013 and are regulars at ZFM, where they released their first self-titled full-length album in 2014, apart from the live-gig scene in Delhi. The band is currently working on their second as-yet-untitled album. They released the first single, 'Charity Case', as a follow up to their upcoming album. They were the third band to be featured in MTV Indies Pepsi Unbox through which they released their single 'Sleep Song'.
The band also became the first Indian band to work with 'Around the World in 80 Music Videos' for their latest single, 'Dread'.
Waii calls for commercialization of agriculture to boost rural economy
ITANAGAR, May 25: Agriculture Minister Kumar Waii stressed the need for commercialization of agriculture to uplift the rural economy.
Addressing the departmental officials in the annual review meeting of the Agriculture department here on Wednesday, Waii directed the department to formulate a state specific pilot project for agriculture.
He advocated for state specific flexibility in operational guidelines for holistic and successful implementation of Central Sector Schemes.
He asked all departmental officials to serve the farming community with dedication and sincerity.
Parliamentary Secretary (Agri) Tatung Jamoh suggested for better cooperation, coordination and maintenance of utmost transparency in execution of all departmental programmes. He emphasized on timely submission of reports, returns, supervision of schemes at every level, importance to marketing of agricultural produce.
Director of Agriculture Hage Kano briefed on various central sector and state plan schemes being implemented by the department and its mode of implementation.
He informed that the department is implementing major national flagship programmes for agriculture,
like Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchaai Yojana and Soil Health Card besides various other important flagship programmes of central and the state governments.
To overcome the impediments in programme execution, the Director gave emphasis on the need of regular review of the schemes so that constraints can be rectified.
Commissioner, Agriculture Hage Khoda stressed upon the necessity to increase cropping intensity of crops and seed replacement ratio, especially for low productive indigenous local varieties of paddy besides other crops on priority to boost the present production and productivity of cereals as well as other food crops.
The commissioner emphasized on organic farming in accordance with the ‘State Organic policy 2014’, supply and distribution of quality farm inputs, revamping of departmental farms for improvement and preservation of local germplasm for benefit of the farming community and prioritizing post harvest management of agricultural produces.
AK Purkayastha, Adviser Agriculture cum Consultant, NFSM presented a comprehensive overview of agriculture scenario in Arunachal Pradesh, its achievements, constraints and drew attention to the immediate need to increase and revamp the technical manpower in proportion of State’s decadal growth for holistic growth and development of agricultural sector in the state.
District officers presented the achievements, constraints in their respective district and requested the government for immediate intervention and support of basic logistics for better implementation and monitoring of agricultural programmes.
The two-day annual review meeting is being attended by all district level officers of the department for review of status and progress of CSS and State Plan programmes and address issues being faced for growth and development of agriculture sector in the state.
BMC, Hong Niitii gets India Biodiversity Award
ITANAGAR, May 25: Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC), Hong Niitii, Lower Subansiri has been awarded under category IV (Biodiversity Management Committees) of the India Biodiversity Award on the occasion of International Day for Biological Diversity on May 22.
The event was organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change through the National Biodiversity Authority in partnership with UNDP.
The award presented by Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao and Minister of State, Environment, Forest & Climate Change Prakash Javadekar was received by BMC, Secretary Mudang Chailyang and BMC, Executive Committee member Bullo Taniyo Tagia.
The BMC, Hong Niitii was constituted on 16th June, 2009 by the Nature Care and Disaster Management Society (NCADMS), Ziro and G.B. Pant Instituted of Himalayan Environment and Development, Itanagar.
Further, on 27th March 2012, it was reconstituted and adopted by Arunachal Pradesh State Biodiversity Board under the Biological Diversity Act, 2002. The BMC is working in the jurisdiction of Hong Niitii village of Apatani plateau in Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Under the active guidance of Rubu Buber, Chairman, NCADMS, the conservation work was initiated by its founder Chairman Late Tapi Elyu and Secretary, Mudang Chailyang.
In order to conserve and revive the ecosystem, the BMC, Hong Niitii has created Siiike-Bo Community Conserved Area to protect the Siiike-Bo stream, which is a main source of drinking water and irrigation for the people of cluster of villages. Besides, BMC is conserving one of the culturally value fish species locally called Ngilyangngyee (Schizothoraxsp.) in the stream. It also maintains Village Biodiversity Register to protect biopiracy. Further, in order to enhance species diversity and restrict extinction of threatened species, ex-situ conservation has been initiated within the CCA.
The outcome of the creation of CCA has been reflected in improved conservation of forests and in its environmental services, reduction in hunting and enhanced livelihoods for local communities. They also strengthened the Tapi Lyago sacred groves by protecting them from encroachment and improved species composition by incorporating cultural value local species, said Secretary, Nature Care and Disaster Management Society Mihin Dollo.
Considering the fact that the Apatani plateau called Apatani Cultural Landscape is listed in the tentative list of World Heritage Site by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the conservation of biological diversity and maintaining healthy ecosystem is of utmost importance. The recognition of the conservation works of BMC by the UNDP will go a long way in achieving sustainable utilization of precious natural resources, he added.
Many surrender LPG subsidy on the first day of campaign
ITANAGAR, May 25: Chief Municipal Executive Officer (CMEO) Habung Lampung under the aegis of Capital Administration on Wednesday launched a campaign for surrender of LPG subsidy in the Conference Hall of the Itanagar Municipal Council. The theme of event was "Let us surrender LPG subsidy for the benefits of real needy people."
The event saw many people coming out voluntarily and giving up their LPG subsidy for the benefit of the needy people. The CMEO himself was the first to surrender followed by the Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kumar Singh, Kipa Kaku, Chief Councillor IMC, Likha Teji General Secretary APCSOA, Gonya Riba General Secretary CoSAAP, Dr. Taba Khanna General secretary APDA, Techi Govin, Director Housing, K Danggen, Secretary State election Commission, Councilors and many others.
CMEO highlighting the objective of the campaign informed that an amount of Rs 165 would be contributed per surrendered LPG subsidy which could be used for benefitting the poor and the needy and for the overall development of the nation. He appealed everyone who can afford LPG at non subsidized rate to come forward as their contribution could help those who can't even think of an LPG connection. Their small gesture could bring a smile in someone's face, the CMEO added.
The DC congratulated the CMEO for his noble initiative and further informed that the subsidy amount would be used in various development projects and would contribute a lot towards nation building. If 5000 people give up LPG subsidy, it could raise an amount of approx Rs 1 crore which could be used in various development projects, the DC added. The DC further appealed everyone to participate in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and play their part in keeping the Capital Complex clean. He also informed that from the month of June, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan would be strictly followed in every school.
IMC Chief Councillor Kipa Kaku also appealed everyone to come forward for the noble cause. She also requested everyone to participate in the Swachh Bharat abhiyan and provide their support to the Capital administration and IMC to keep the Capital Complex clean. The General Secretary APCSOA, CoSAAP and APDA assured to create awareness among their colleagues and members from their side as it is for the benefit of the downtrodden.
Amit Bengia, DFCSO, capital complex apprise the problem faced by the department as there is constant complaints from consumers regarding shortage of LPG supply. The Councilors also assured to create awareness programme among their respective wards and further assured all out support from IMC.
The officials from IOCL highlighted that LPG is a highly subsidized commodity in India with subsidy amounting to a whopping Rs. 40,000 crores during 2013-14 which could be used for development purposes benefitting the nation. In Arunachal Pradesh, a total of 13.12% consumers have already surrendered their LPG subsidy. Later, the CMEO informed that a camp office would be set up at IMC office to facilitate the surrender process but one should come with the following documents i) a Xerox copy of their LPG card and ii) identity proof and their names would get registered as volunteers in register. Lastly, reiterating his appeal, the CMEO asked everyone to join in small but noble contributions.

TAWANG, May 25: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI)'s regional Banking Ombudsman Office, Guwahati organized an awareness programme to create financial literacy among bank customers at Tawang on Wednesday.
Banking Ombudsman Scheme (BOS) of Reserve Bank of India provides an expeditious and inexpensive forum to bank customers for resolution of their complaints relating to certain deficiencies in banking services provided by the banks, informed Secretary to the office of Banking Ombudsman, Guwahati Anil Kumar.
Scheduled commercial banks, regional rural banks and scheduled primary cooperative banks are covered under this scheme, the official informed.
Banking Ombudsman can receive and consider the complaints relating to the deficiency in banking services prescribed in the scheme. Further, complaints can be lodged before the Banking Ombudsman if no reply is received from the concerned bank within a period of one month from the date of lodging the complaint to the bank or the reply given by the bank is not satisfactory to the satisfaction of the complainant", he added.
"Complaints can be lodged to the office of the Banking Ombudsman online at www.rbi.org.in or in simple writing on a plain paper or by email to boguwahati@bi.org.in ", he said.
He cautioned bank customers against fraudulent SMS, e-mails and hoax calls and advised not to respond them.
Tawang Deputy Commissioner Kasish Mittal urged all to avail the benefits of the scheme and to widely disseminate and propagate the information.
The programme organized by the Office of the Banking Ombudsman for the North East Region, Reserve Bank of India, Guwahati in collaboration with State Bank of India.

Discovery shoots for adventure travel show in Bomdila
BOMDILA, May 25: The 17-member team from popular TV channel "Discovery" led by Director M Joseph started shooting for an adventure travel show in the picturesque Bomdila in West Kameng on Wednesday.
The team started shooting with an early morning sun rise shot from Bomdila Pass and a visit to GRL Monastary.
Rest of the day's schedule included shooting adventure activities conducted by mountaineer Anshu Jamsenpa under the aegis of Arunachal Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Association.
These included rock climbing, rappelling and tent pitching demo at AMASA Rock Fields followed by trekking trip from Bomdila Pass to Sera Village Hill Top.
Omkar Pathak, Assistant Director stated that they came all the way to Bomdila to meet one of the India's top mountaineer Anshu, who is the only Indian woman mountaineer to summit Mt Everest thrice.
He stated that her mountaineering achievement has indeed motivated and inspired scores of youths to take up mountaineering and adventure sports in a big way.
He stated that Anshu's programme will be telecast under a brand new adventure travel show known as #IndiaMyWay sometime in the first week of September this year.
Anchor Paloma of Discovery Channel stated that she found Anshu very composed and comfortable to shoot with. She was also awestruck with the natural beauty of Arunachal Pradesh in general and West Kameng in particular.
ICAR-NRC on Yak conducts training on Scientific management of pigs
ITANAGAR, May 25: Scientific management of pigs, covering scope of piggery in the area, its breeding, feeding, housing, disease control and prevention etc. were explained to the farmers during a three days training programme on improvement of livelihood and nutritional security of tribal farmers at Lish Basti area under Dirang circle organized by ICAR-National Research Centre on Yak, Dirang from May 23 to 25.
Exotic crossbred piglets of age 3-4 months with better breeding efficiency were distributed to all the 100 farmers, who attended the training programme, along with some basic veterinary medicines.
Lish Village ASM Leki Chordon urged upon the farmers to rear their piglets in scientific ways as they have learned during the training programme to get maximum benefits from their animals.
The programme was organized under the guidance of Director of the Institute Dr. S. M. Deb and co-ordinated by senior scientist of the institute Dr. D. Medhi with active participation of scientists and technical staff of the institute.
Over 1500 domestic animals treated by KVK
ITANAGAR, May 25: Around 1500 domestic animals were either vaccinated or treated during an animal health and vaccination programme organized by KVK Lohit, Namsai on May 19 and 25 at Mahadevpur and Momong.
Vaccination programme, especially against Ranikhet disease of poultry, was carried out at farmers' doorsteps.
Various medicines, including vitamins were also distributed for maintaining the general health of the animals. The farmers were also advised to get their animals vaccinated regularly to prevent periodic/seasonal diseases. They were also told on the need to de worm their animals.
Staff from State Veterinary department of Namsai and Mahadevpur and Chongkham circle actively participated to make the programme successful.
A total of 169 farmers were benefitted from the programme, which was funded by ICAR-NRC on Yak, Dirang under Tribal Sub Plan.
In another KVK programme, farmers were trained on identification and management of diseases, harmful insects and pests in paddy during a training programme conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, West Siang at Echi Chiku village on May 24.
Various pest, insect and disease control methods in paddy, eco-friendly and judicious use of pesticides etc. were explained to the farmers by the subject matter specialist in plant protection of the KVK.
Around 55 rural youths and farmers, including women attended the training.
Cane & Bamboo based Handicrafts training
YINGKIONG, May 25: 40 days capacity building and training programme on Cane & Bamboo based Handicrafts was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner, Upper Siang Remo Kamki and ZPM Jengging Anchal Block Bodak Jongkey. The training has been organized by the Department of Textile & Handicrafts, Upper Siang District which was funded by Alo Libang, Parliamentary Secretary under MLA Local Area Development Fund 2015-16.
While inaugurating the opening function, Kamki, emphasised the importance of handicraft produce to boost the rural economy as well as generation of self-employment.
DC suggested the trainees to improve the quality and design of craft making technique so that the indigenous product could compete in the market. ZPM also advocated that handicraft making should not be confined to local market but become source of employment generation and economical benefit. District Planning Officer Sangha Babung highlighted that indigenous handicraft products reflect the mirror of socio - economic & cultural heritage of tribes & community which should be protected, encouraged to boost market economy.
Water supply snapped at Jengging, Moying
YINGKIONG, May 25: Landslide and heavy rains has snapped the water supply system in Jengging Township. Drinking water supply to the Township has been disrupted following damage caused to the main supply line connecting Sidok stream. The damage occurred 6 km away from Jengging.
Water supply is also affected in Moying village because of damages to supply lines by land slide.

Poppy plant destroyed in Upper Siang
YINGKIONG, May 25: A team of Adi Bane Kebang, Women Wing (ABKWW) of Sumsing village, Upper Siang headed by President Olek Panyang and General Secretary Apak Paron destroyed the Poppy plants cultivated in Sumsing and Sibum villages on May 16 last.
The ABKWW Unit of Sumsing appealed the District Administration and Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh to give alternative earning source to opium affected area so that opium can be completely eradicated. Countless numbers of flowering plants were destroyed but no untoward incidence has happened during the operation. DIPRO
Centre checks arbitrary suspension of IAS, IPS
NEW DELHI, May 25: States cannot keep an IAS or IPS officer suspended for more than a month, as per new procedures issued today by the Centre.
Besides, state governments will have to inform the Centre within 48 hours about the suspension of an all India services officer–Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Forest Service (IFoS).
The new procedure assumes importance as officers like Ashok Khemka, Sanjiv Chaturvedi, Durga Sakthi Nagpal and Kuldip Narayan, among others, have allegedly been victims of arbitrary suspensions and transfers.
The suspension of an IAS, IPS and IFoS officer, suspended on charges of corruption, shall not exceed two years except on the recommendation of the Central Review Committee, headed by Secretary in Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the latest procedures said.
Also, IAS officers working under central government cannot be suspended without the nod of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
An IAS, IPS and IFoS officer, when placed under suspension, the information in this regard shall be communicated to government of India expeditiously and within the period of forty-eight hours, an order issued by the DoPT said.
A copy of the suspension order along with the reasons or grounds of suspension shall be communicated to the Cadre Controlling authority in the Central government not later than 48 hours, it said.
“Where a state government passes an order for suspension of a member of service it will be valid for a period of thirty days from the date from which the member is placed under suspension. Further extension for thirty days requires confirmation by the central government,” the DoPT said. PTI
Use of explosive, bleaching powder for fishing prohibited
ITANAGAR, May 25: Khya Welfare Society of Sawa under East Kameng district has prohibited use of explosives, bleaching powder for fishing purposes in the rivers and streams within the jurisdiction of the society. The society appealed to the people of nearby and adjoining areas to refrain from such self-destructing activities.

DC visits Shyo block point
TAWANG, May 25: Deputy Commissioner, Tawang Kashish Mittal visited the block point at Shyo village, Tawang on Wednesday and directed for complete restriction of vehicular movement till the restoration work is completed.
Landslide triggered by heavy rainfall during April 16 had taken away a portion of road under PWD, Tawang division.
DC also visited the Ugyen Sangpo Heliport, Tawang to verify the fulfillment of observations made by DGCA during the 2014 visit. He directed the Civil Aviation Officer to follow up the MoU to be signed between the IAF and Govt.of Arunachal Pradesh regarding use of ATC and other IAF facilities by civil helicopters.
Further, DC inspected the BADP projects and the High Altitude Sports Complex .While terming the sports complex which is still under construction as an asset for the district, he asked the concerned department to ensure timely completion of the same. DIPRO
Capacity building training for newly recruited SLRM professionals
ITANAGAR, May 25: A six days training programme was conducted to build capacity of the newly recruited professionals under Arunachal State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ArSLRM) at SIRDA here from May 19.
The newly recruited professionals would be deployed in Sagalee, Daporijo, Yachuli, Basar, Pangin, Namsai and Roing.
The main objectives of the training were to make them understand about rural poverty, its impact on economy, about their role as a development professional, concept of Group and Group Processes, enhance skill of effective communication and facilitation etc. while working for eradication of poverty in the State.
The training programme was facilitated by resource persons (NRPs) from National Mission Management Unit (NMMU), New Delhi.
A total of 31 professional attended the training.
AYO calls for solution to problems of Govt offices in KK
ITANAGAR, May 25: The Arunachal Youth Association (AYO) has appealed to the state Govt for solution to various problems being faced by the Govt offices in Kurung Kumey district.
After its recent visit to Koloriang and meeting with ADC Cheehung Chukhu to discuss regarding the alleged absence of government officials from duty, the AYO came to know from the ADC that the office staffs have been attending the office regularly but the main problem is lack of man power.
ADC also stated that they are trying their level best to coordinate with every department. A sum of Rs one crore twenty lakhs was sanctioned for the construction of SP office but due to lack of land the construction works have been kept in halt, the ADC informed. ADC also informed the visiting team that lack of office quarters for the government staff is a major hurdle.
AYO also visited the Sangram Police station. While having a discussion with OC, the organization came to know about lack of police patrolling vehicles.
During the interaction with the Sangram SDO, the AYO came to know that irregular attendance of staff made the office functioning difficult.
AVP's advance training camp
ITANAGAR, May 25: The state level advance training camp (Pragat Varg) organized by Arunachal Vikas Parishad (AVP) concluded on May 22 at Daporijo.
Altogether, 65 delegates from 10 districts attended the training camp.
Principal of Govt. Degree College Daporijo, Dr. Vijay Raji Tamin, who attended the valedictory function, highlighted the role of youths on the progress of the society and the country.
The youths are the future leader and the future of our society lies in their hands. They should prepare themselves to shoulder the responsibility by choosing the right path and direction, Dr. Tamin said.
Yoga display, cultural show and PT show were other highlights of the day.
SBI Koloriang donates medical equipments
ITANAGAR, May 25: State Bank of India, Koloriang branch donated medical equipments like stretchers, wheel chairs to Chera Talo District Hospital on May 20. The equipments were handed over to the hospital superintendent Dr. Boni Tuluk by SBI Koloriang Branch Manager Pavan Kumar in a formal programe.

ITANAGAR, May 25: All Arunachal Pradesh Contractual Employees Association (AAPCEA) on Wednesday reiterated its demands for recruiting trained and regular teachers, claiming that most of elementary schools are running without regular and trained teachers as many of them are posted as SSA coordinators.
AAPCEA further reminded the Chief Secretary of its memorandum wherein it demanded for unconditional regularization of contractual employees of various departments who have served for more than five years. The association also demanded for house rent allowance, one time ex-gratia policy and leave encashment. It also demanded for salary enhancement.
AKDDSU urges for senior teachers
ITANAGAR, May 25: Claiming that Government Higher Secondary School, Palin is running without senior teachers in various subjects such as Geography, Hindi, and Commerce, All Kra Daadi District Students' Union(AKDDSU) urged the Director School Education to post senior teachers to the school before the new academic session begins.
AKDDSU claimed that senior teachers retired recently. The union also requested the authority to post Junior Teachers (English) to the school.
Association seeks job regularization
ITANAGAR, May 25: Arunachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj Contractual Employees Association in a representation to Chief Minister appealed for regularization of their jobs. In its representation, Association said that there are 487 contractual employees appointed under 13th Finance Commission grant in the year 2010-2011.
It also said that their service has been extended to March 2016 for better functioning of three tiers Panchayati Raj Institutions. It requested the Chief Minister to allocate budget for regularization of their job.

A release from CM's Public Relation Office clarified that the third sentence of the first paragraph of the news item under heading "Uniform Land Compensation……….", which was published in this daily on May 25 issue, should be read as "ATYO was seeking for revocation of the cabinet decision to cross verify the land compensation list and constituting committee for re-assessment and for immediate disbursement of the compensation amount", instead of "ATYO was seeking for revision of the land compensation rate fixed by the govt recently.

Racism in India
The repeated attack on students hailing from Africa in various parts of India is increasingly damaging the country's image. Most of these attacks are racist in nature and therefore portray India as a racist country. These attacks on foreign nationals deeply embarrass the country. India shares excellent relation with Africa since ages. Together India and African countries had always stood up against racism during the freedom struggle. In the latest incident, a student hailing from Congo was killed by local goons at Delhi on Sunday. This killing has deeply enraged the African countries.
Angered over the incident, African Group of Heads of Mission cancelled the Africa Day celebration on May 25, in protest against the murder of Congolese student. It is also understood that African Heads of Mission wrote to their respective governments urging them not to send new students due to prevailing climate of fear and insecurity in Delhi. This is a tragedy and has damaged the image of India. External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and his assistant Gen VK Singh tried their best to do damage control by reaching out to head of missions. Both of them assured to take strict action against killer and also assured safety of African students. This may be a short tem solution but government of India seriously needs to treat racism as a serious menace. African students along with those hailing from North East India constantly face racist attacks. When Indian students are attacked in Australia or in any other western countries, the Indians make hue and cry declaring it as racism. Where does the Indian conscience go when African students face racism in the country? Why this double standard attitude.

Congress and modern democracy
Dear Editor,
The Indian National Congress founded in 1885; associated with iconic Indian intellectuals and the historic Indian Freedom Struggle has been reduced to rubble after the recent round of assembly elections. The name of the national party associated with the greatest humanitarian that the world has ever seen like Mahatma Gandhi is now surviving in isolated pockets in handful states of North, South and NE India. The national party is now minor member of some poorly performing coalition governments in some states and junior members of toothless opposition in some others. The pressure of dynastic politics has been a detrimental force responsible for its rapid deterioration with serious indications that the situation will deteriorate further due to the underlying power struggles and deep divisions among its leaders at various ranks weakening the party further. The poor management and leadership crisis within inner ranks of the party; and monumental allegations of corruptions of generous proportions have reduced the party to lose the most important gift of democracy, the support of ordinary citizens. The few small states in the NE India will be soon under BJP and/or NDA influence with their landslide victory in the recent Assam assembly elections; a state known to have domino effect on the political situations of the adjoining smaller states. Furthermore, the negative image Congress has generated as a destructive opposition in both houses of the parliament has tarnished the global picture of the party. It is now viewed globally as an organization opposed to the necessary economic reforms, development and overall progress of the nation for small time cheap publicity in the media to win elections that it has been failing repeatedly. Not being able to support the progress of the nation, if Congress is not in power is the biggest disease that the party needs serious rethinking as a destructive political strategy. Unless serious attempts are made by the party to be able to reach the ordinary citizens, counter the serious corruption allegations and build a new and credible leadership; it will have hard time in holding back many of its handful legislatures and parliamentarians who will surely move to other greener pastures for their personal political benefits as demonstrated in Assam, Uttarakhand and Arunachal Pradesh. The key leadership of the party surrounded by rings of dedicated sycophants for decades cannot help the party to survive if the party loses the greatest ornament of modern democracy; the faith and support of the common people.

Precious land resources at paltry rupees
Dear Editor,
There is no bigger resource than land and that is what the whole boundary fuss about villages, districts, states and countries are about. At present date you don’t even get a decent packet of biscuit or one square meal at Rs 11. Given the 100 percent non implementation of RR policy by the state, the rate is just plain atrocious. If you look back 100 years back, there were massive inter clan and inter tribe wars for territories where lives were sacrificed like peanuts. The land resources we have now comes with a heavy price tag, the tags of lives lost for keeping it safe from intruders for past several generations. Moreover the kind of development that’s taking place is partly a sham and majorly inequitable and such developments can wait.
So let it be very clear that none of us are parting our precious land resources at paltry Rupees 11 per unit meter.
